For your permanent makeup cosmetics to heal properly and look its best, follow these important pre-care instructions.
| Please consult with your doctor if you have any questions about health issues or medications you are taking before and after the procedure. |
For all procedures
- Bring an ID to verify you’re 18 or older.
- Don’t have any caffeine the day you come.
- Alcohol should be avoided 48 hours prior to the procedure.
- Eat a good, healthy meal 2 hours prior to your appointment. Drink plenty of water during the 24 hours leading up to the procedure.
- Avoid tanning beds and doing Botox for 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks after the procedure.
- Avoid blood thinners like Ibuprofen, Niacin (B3), Fish Oil, Aspirin, and essential oils 2 weeks before your appointment.
- Discontinue any blood thinning medications for 24 hours before the procedure. Consult with your doctor prior.
- Avoid Retin-A one week prior to the procedure.
- You must be off Accutane for 12 months prior to the procedure.
- Avoid long sun exposure 3 days prior and 7 days after.
- Take any allergy medication like Claritin the night before and an hour before your appointment. It helps your eyes not to water.
- Take 3 Vitamin K-1 pills (i.e., 3x the daily dose) together with Vitamin D with breakfast for 5 days with foods that help absorb Vitamin K before you come. This helps you to not bleed or swell (unless your doctor recommends a different amount). Must get doctor approval to take this supplement.
- Ask your doctor or dentist for 10 mg of Valium or Xanax. This will help your eyes to relax and numb better for an eyeliner procedure.
- If you’re getting your lips done and have had a cold sore before, take Valtrex or Zovirax for 5 days before, the day of, and 3 days after to prevent getting any cold sores. You can ask your dentist to numb your lips right before you come in.
- Try to avoid scheduling around your period and stressful days.
Eyebrow Procedures
- Do not wax, dye, or tweeze the brows for 7 days prior to the procedure.
- Any Electrolysis should be done at least one week prior to the procedure.
- Refrain from use of any Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) products close to the eyebrow area 2 weeks prior to and 2 weeks after your procedure.
Eyeliner Procedures
*** If you have had any type of eye surgery, consult the physician on the advised timeframe before having a permanent eyeliner procedure. ***
- Discontinue any lash serums for 3 months prior to your appointment.
- Lash extensions need to be removed 1 week ahead of the appointment and should be left off until after your touch-up application has healed (about 10-14 days after the touch-up appointment.
- Do not dye or perm lashes for 2 days prior.
- Do not wear contact lenses during the procedure or 24 hours after.
- Bring sunglasses to wear home. Your eyes will be light sensitive.
- To help you relax or control discomfort if you feel you need to, you may ask your doctor if there are medications that you can take, such as Benedryl Tylenol, Zanax, or Valium immediately prior to this procedure.
- Please also know that, if you feel like you may be unable to safely drive, you will need to plan for someone to pick you up.
Lip Blush Procedures
- If you have EVER had a cold sore or fever blister, you MUST get a prescription for Zovirax, Valtrax, or other prescribed medication from your doctor or dentist. This MUST be taken in ORAL form, not cream. You need to pre-medicate with the oral anti-viral for 2 days prior, the day of, and for 1-2 days after. You will want to inform your doctor or dentist that you will need enough medication to take daily for 4-5 days. You’ll also need the same amount for any touch-up applications.
- Avoid lip stain and long-lasting lipsticks 2 weeks prior. Wear moisturizing lip gloss before going to bed 2 weeks before the procedure.
- Lips are a muscle without hair follicles or pores. If you have a large amount of scar tissue in your lips, the results may be lessened in color intensity.
- Please note: A lipstick look is not achieved with lip tattooing. However, a beautiful, natural watercolor shade is a realistic goal!
